Stars

Ilkley Rotary Club has awarded us the most amazing sum of £700.00 to help enable our "Stars" primary schools variety show to take place at the Kings Hall later this year (2026).  Huge thanks and gratitude are owed to them.

The annual "Stars For A Day" Variety Show will be held on Wednesday, 20th May at the Kings Hall from 09.00 - 11.45 approximately.  Admission is free, although a bucket collection will be held as the audience leaves the hall.

Parents and families, friends, etc are welcome, and we hope they will come.

The Stars of the Show are children from All Saints Primary School,  Ashlands Primary School and Burley Oaks Primary School and every act will have been devised by the children themselves with no input from teachers, parents, etc.

We are grateful to Ilkley Town Council, who have kindly awarded £400 to the Stars event to help cover the cost of hiring the Kings Hall.

The Denis Sharp Memorial Concert is taking place on Friday, 20th March at 7.30 pm at the Hollygarth Social Club on Leeds Road, Ilkley.  Tickets will be available at the door, priced at £15.00.  

The Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band will be performing, and also local vocal star Mark Gregory.
 
As the Hollygarth is licensed, the bar will be open throughout the evening and tea and coffee will also be available on a self-service basis.  There is ample parking space to the rear of the building.  A raffle will also be held.

Wednesday 21st May saw 80 children from three local primary schools descend on the Kings Hall, ready to perform and support each performer. The acts included a comedy duo, a poetry recitalist, a magic act, an acrobatic display, nine vocalists, a flautist, a saxophonist, guitarists, a school choir, a band, seven pianists and seven dance acts, both as solo, duo, trio and group formats.

The morning began with each school joining together to sing a pre-learned song, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. This was led by Mrs Lucy Ashton, primary school teacher in charge of music and my interface with the three schools involved. She has done a wonderful job creating running orders, programmes and sorting out technical details with the schools and the
